Apprenticeship for Emerging Deaf Theatre Practitioner |
Robert Malone held this position over a six month period. Amongst other things, the Apprenticeship gave Robert time and support to develop his own practice, research Deaf theatre across the UK, deliver training programmes, and investigate and advise on formal theatre training.
Robert has recently been working on the Deaf Youth Theatre production of GONE at Gilmorehill G12. He also presented his own performance piece (SKIN SOUL) at The Arches and the Edinburgh Festival .
The Apprenticeship is supported by Solar Bear's core team, Ramesh Meyyappan, Deafinitely Theatre Company and Graeae. The post is funded by The Scottish Arts Council. |

We are working in collaboration with Who Cares? Scotland to create performances by young people, exploring how it feels to be looked-after and accommodated, the challenges being looked-after brings them, and their hopes for the future. Telling their own stories in their own words, This is Me has, so far, performed at four national conferences (to around six hundred people), with more being planned for later on in the year.
