Access Officer

Solar Bear Ltd is an arts organisation that works with professional artists and people from marginalised groups throughout the community.   The company creates inclusive and accessible theatre productions of the highest quality as well as offering creative learn programmes and consultation services.   In 2008 Solar Bear Ltd launched Scotland’s first ever Deaf Youth Theatre.

It is one of Solar Bear’s main aims and top priorities to have a positive social impact and make progress in the areas of access, inclusion and integration within the arts.

Working with the Core Team, the position of Access Officer will be responsible for:

*            Developing and delivering a range of drama workshops and training opportunities including but not exclusively Deaf & disability awareness;

*            Working with the Artistic Director to develop Deaf Youth Theatre and  opportunities for Deaf artists to train;

*            Cultivating and encouraging Deaf and disabled audiences and participants;

*            Making contacts and forging relationships with Deaf and disabled arts organisations, community groups and individuals;

*            Actively promoting awareness of access issues within the sector.
